Mission U Is Coming this July-Register Now!

Fri-Sun July 28-30

Mission U coming to our church in July  The Carson Valley United Methodist Church will be the site for the California/Nevada  Conference United Methodist Women Mission U July 28-30.  The Mission U study weekends are scheduled three times a year--normally in California. District President Debbie Cole and Treasurer Martha Hoefner worked hard to bring this learning  opportunity to the Nevada side of the Sierras.   Four study areas will be provided to attendees. The first, Spiritual Growth--A Covenantal  Community, will by taught by the Rev. Cynthia Stateman. The Rev. Sharon Delgado will lead the  social issue study: Climate Justice--Call to Hope and Action.  One geographical study--the Missionary Conferences of the UMC will be led by Carol  Partridge. The other geographic study aimed at youth--the Missionary Conferences: “Legacy:  Blooming in the Holy Spirit” for such a time as this! will by led by the Rev. Beth Cademartori.Anyone can participate in the UMW studies. The nice thing about it being local is that the cost  is only for the conference--no housing costs involved. The $75 fee needs to be in by July 10.  After that another $25 will be added. Please see the UMW bulletin board in the fellowship hall  for registration forms.  There is some scholarship money available from the local unit of UMW. Please contact  Maxane Hylton for information about scholarships.

Senior Lunch Welcomes Summer!  Unpack your Hawaiian shirt or muu-muu, put on your flip-flops, and hula on over to the Senior Lunch "luau" on June 28 as we say aloha to summer. (Yes, this year the hugely popular luau takes place in June instead of in the fall as in past years.) Chef John Adams will be cooking up his fabulous BBQ pork, and the kitchen volunteers will create tropical side dishes to truly tempt your taste buds.   Don't miss this one! Be sure to add your name to the sign-up sheet on the board in Fellowship Hall ON OR BEFORE JUNE 25.  Bring your aloha spirit and get ready to enjoy the fellowship of friends and senior living guests. And, as always, if you can help with this rewarding outreach program, please contact Ann Santos or John. Mahalo!
