As was written in the November 2020 Newsletter, the Endowment Committee has received a $10,000 donation towards the replacement of the church’s much needed new roof. Any additional donations made as of April 15, 2021 up to a total of $10,000, will be matched by the donor. If successful, this could provide at least $30,000 toward the estimated cost of $68,000 to replace the roof. So as you plan to make your donations for tax purposes. this provides a perfect write-off for you and it addresses the number one need of the church building. If you are guided to participate in funding the new Roof, just remember that no donation is too small in the eyes of God.
In case you didn't know, the CVUMC has a thriving Prayer Shawl Ministry! So if you knit and are interested in putting your skills and time towards a great cause...We need you! Each prayer shawl or lap robe is made for warmth, comfort or healing. Patterns of 3 stitches are mostly used to represent: birth, life and death or faith, hope and love. Each shawl gets a prayer card and is blessed before being given away. Any one can get a hand knit prayer shawl from the office to give for a health situation, loss of a loved one or just because you see a need. We presently have about 4 women who are knitting and we sure could use more help! If you are interested in knitting a prayer shawl, contact our main office. Have them give you the contact info for Jan Pohlman, who is presently leading this ministry. Thank you!

The CVUMC is starting a Caregiver Network group led by Nancy Raymond. The goal of this new group is to provide a way for caregivers to support each other by sharing experiences. Members will have the opportunity to share aspects of this journey, discuss challenges, share advice and resources. The group will meet in person and via zoom, the choice is yours. The group will start on Thursday March 18, 1-2pm. The members of the group will decide how often the group will meet; more information will be posted on the CVUMC website. If you are interested in being a part of this group, or know someone who might be interested, please contact the front office for Nancy Raymond’s email & phone. Being a caregiver is a special blessing; let’s support each other in this journey!

Do you miss the fellowship time after worship service? Do you miss the opportunity to greet Pastor Tony before and after the service, and hear him ask about how you’re doing? Well, pour a cup of coffee and grab a cookie, because fellowship time with Tony is coming to Zoom! We miss seeing and talking to our pastor, and he misses us! Starting Wednesday, February 10 at 1pm, Pastor Tony is launching a weekly Zoom “get-together” to visit with members of the congregation. The zoom link will be sent out to the entire congregation each Monday. So, until we can be together again, jump on zoom and visit with Pastor Tony. As Tony would say, “Let’s focus on what we CAN do, not what we can’t.” Connecting with others will lift your spirits, so please join us!
Do you like to cook? Do you like to talk on the phone? Do you like to shop? If you can answer "YES" to any of these, the Member Care Team can use your help. We are busy shopping and cooking meals for those that are sick. We are also very busy calling the members and friends of our church during this time of isolation and not being able to worship together. Many Hands make for light work, Proverbs 11:21. If you are interested in helping, please contact our front office and speak with Len or leave a message and we will get back to you! Thank you!
The CVUMC is excited to announce a new evening, Lenten bible study starting Thursday, February 25. This will be a five-week course led by Tamara Brewer, meeting on zoom or in person at the church, Thursdays at 6:30pm. The study features the book, Easter: Behold Your King, by Lifeway Women. What is Easter about? Is it a long time of awaiting the arrival of spring which bursts forth with new life and new hope? It goes deeper than the celebration of new life. During this study we want to intentionally and prayerfully “pull back the curtain” and ask God to help us understand the bigger picture of Easter. We will explore how God was involved in Jesus’ death, the resurrection and the days leading up to these events. This evening class is designed to help you see the true meaning of Easter, a hope that is found only in Jesus Christ, the risen Savior. Books can be purchased in the front office, please call first to make sure someone is there before you stop by. This is a study that can be done alone or with family and friends! Please contact Len or Tamara Brewer to let them know you wish to participate. If you need help getting registered on Zoom, contact the front office and we will connect you with someone who can help! Please join Tamara for this beautiful and inspirational Lenten study.
In addition to our inspirational and uplifting worship services, the CVUMC also has a great variety of events for the whole family! Due to COVID 19 restrictions our events are more limited these days. However, please check below for the latest YouTube & Zoom offerings. Our website and monthly newsletter are also great ways to stay aware of upcoming events. Please scroll down the entire page to catch all the action this month. We'll see you here!
Generous Hearts and Strong Threads is the theme of the next UMW meeting on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 1 pm. In this meeting we will investigate how to commit ourselves to valuing the work of all women through advocacy for fair-wage practices. We will look at the legacy of Tabitha in the book of Acts and see that every thread is important. All women in the church are invited to attend United Methodist Women. Mark your calendar to attend in person in the church sanctuary or from home through Zoom online. More details with a Zoom link, ID and password will be sent out by email in early March.
