“A Helping Hand For The Greatest Asset Douglas County Has - Our Children”. That is what Project School Days is all about. During the month of August we will be accepting donations of school supplies to be distributed throughout our Douglas County Schools. Items received will be given to the teachers who will then give them to children that may otherwise not have the tools that they need to complete their school work and special projects. We are excited to tell you that starting this year, Carson Valley United Methodist Church is operating Project School Days as one of our Outreach programs. Click here for a list of needed items!
Craft workshops to prepare items for the annual UMW Heavenly Holiday Fair are the first and third Monday of every month with the exceptions of holidays. Workshops are from 9:30 AM to Noon. Bring your own projects to work on or there will be projects available and ready to go. Our cupboards are full of wonderful supplies, so if you need something come check it out. We need fresh, new ideas so bring them on! What would you like to see sold at the fair this year? Questions - call Nancy Raymond 775-720-6266, Debbie Ham 510-406-4208, Barbara Gustafson 775-392-1382. Due to lack of storage, please do not bring items for Grandma’s Attic at this time, but save them up at home for the fall when we will start collecting. Thanks, Nancy Raymond 775-720-6266
Yes indeed! Movie Night returns on Saturday, August 18 at 7:00 pm. We will be watching the newly released action, adventure, sci-fi “Rampage”. “Primatologist Davis (Dwayne Johnson) shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent silver back gorilla who has been in his care since he was young. When a greed-fueled corporation's genetic experiment goes awry, George and other animals across the country are mutated into aggressive super creatures who destroy everything in their path. In this adrenaline-filled ride, Davis tries to find an antidote, not only to halt a global catastrophe but also to save the fearsome creature who was once his friend.” This film is rated PG-13. A big exciting movie with great popcorn and special surprise treats. Join in the film, fun and food!

There's nothing like great food from a grill. Add fellowship with friends, and it's the perfect recipe for a summer get-together. We'll be grillin' up a good time on August 22nd with barbecued chicken heading up the "Hot August Nights" Senior Lunch menu. Sign up on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall on or before Sunday, August 19th, and then come on over at Noon on the 22nd for a "cool" time on what will likely be a hot day. Senior Lunch is a popular event at CVUMC, and it takes many hands to make each lunch a success. During the summer months, regular volunteers are often not available. YOU can be part of this rewarding program by helping set up or decorate tables, assisting in the kitchen or with cleanup, or performing any of the other tasks involved. Contact John Adams at 775-781-4976 / firstname.lastname@example.org or Ann Santos, 623-340-6914 / ASNDRLN@aol.com. We hope to hear from you!
In addition to our inspirational and uplifting worship services, the CVUMC also has a great variety of events for the whole family! Our website and monthly newsletter are great ways to stay current on upcoming events. Please scroll down the entire page to catch all the action this month. We'll see you here!
