Calling all crafters! Holiday Faires need crafts and LOTS of them! We invite you to bring your crafts to the holiday faire to sell. We have also been getting together for months in our crafting circles to create crafts. Items are often Christmas themed but it certainly isn't a requirement. If you have crafts you wish to sell at the holiday faire this year, please contact Ann Santos (623) 340-6914 or Sharon Calvert (775) 586-8616 or cell: (775) 901-2291 so we can get an idea of who will be contributing this year. (Please note: All proceeds from items sold at this holiday faire are combined and donated to the UMW. Proceeds are donated to the organizations listed at the bottom of this page.) Thank you!
Basket Ideas 2017 from Ann Santos-Whether you are traveling this summer or shopping locally, please keep your eye out for interesting items for our UMW's major fundraiser! Each of the gift baskets at this coming November's "Heavenly Holiday Faire" will have a special theme: Spa, Breakfast, Starbucks, Movies, Fire Pit, Fall Harvest, Golf, Dog/Pet, Snacks, Kids' Coloring, Tea Time, Grilling, or Wine. We can use YOUR help to make them the talk of the town! If you find NEW items that fit any of these themes, your donations will be very much appreciated! Contact Linda Kozak or Helen Brownfield for more information.
The UMW uses the money earned from this fundraiser to further mission work within our church, our community and beyond. We give money to the Family Support Council, the Food Closet, Abbey Crossing (refuge for battered women), City of Refuge (home for young pregnant women in crises) to name a few areas in the community. Within our church family we help fund camper scholarships for youth wanting to attend church camps. We give money to the Local Outreach fund and recognize our high school seniors. Looking for ways to help in mission beyond our community we always give money to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), the Heifer Project and several national need projects.
And the Proceeds Go To...
Themed Raffle Baskets
Our holiday faire has a themed raffle basket event and a separate silent auction. Historically, the silent auction is the most significant area of fundraising. Whereas raffle baskets are literally baskets of themed gifts, silent auction items might include a donation of a person’s time—offering to tutor math or work in someone’s yard for so many hours, for example. Other items can be from merchants in our community. A request on church letterhead is often needed for the business. There are copies of the letter in the church office. Do you paint? Take pictures? Have a time-share to share? These are wonderful donations for the silent auction. Do you have items you would like to donate to the silent auction? if so, please contact Cecile Brown or Susan Hamarlund: firstname.lastname@example.org / 782-2554 or email@example.com. Thank you!
Grandma's Attic is a series of tables that display antiques for sale at the holiday faire. Items might include things like: antique tea cups, silver, jewelry, vases, books, lamps, clocks, gloves and much more. These are nice items that one might find in their Grandma's Attic. (We would like items that are more special than typical rummage sale items.) Take a look around your house and attic and see what you might donate! PS... we also need your gently used ornaments!
Do you love to bake? Then we need you! The Bake Sale is a BIG part of the holiday Faire. Cakes, pies, bread, cookies, cupcakes, fudge, homemade candy etc.! Start your mixers !
There are many ways to get involved with volunteering for the holiday Faire! You can bake for the bake sale, create crafts, visit local businesses to get raffle basket items or silent auction items, or you can help with the set up, clean up or volunteer the day of the event. As the event is very large and contains a lot of "moving parts", volunteers do need to be organized to some extent to ensure the success of the event. Please contact one of our two chair-women regarding your wish to be involved, whether you are making, baking or sharing your time. Please contact Sharon Calvert 586-8618 or
Ann Santos (623) 340-6914. New and returning volunteers are all welcome! We look forward to hearing from you!
