"We empower families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity-but our approach is about more than
giving them a handout. Heifer International links communities and helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. Our animals provide partners with both food and reliable income as agricultural products such as milk, eggs or honey can be traded or sold at market" (heifer.org).
The Carson Valley United Methodist Church supports nonprofit organizations on a national and global front,
as well as on a local level. These groups are supported with funds from the United Methodist Women and/or
our "Birthday Bank" money collected during our Sunday services. We invite you to click on the links/websites
below to learn more about this important involvement.
"It is our mission to surround the students and families of McCurdy Charter School and our community with ministry in the name of Jesus to help student and their families succeed in school and in life" (mccurdy.org). The CVUMC helps the
McCurdy school through our collection of Campbell (soup) Product labels! Several years ago the school was able to purchase two Dodge mini vans with this funding and the CVUMC helped! Look for more information on this school on their website and in the CVUMC September newsletter. Please save your labels and bring them to the church; collection box is outside the Sanctuary. Thank you! (Click here to view the article in the September newsletter.)
The CVUMC and teh CV United Methodist Women are working again this year with Steve & Carol Johnson, missionaries working in Hyderabad, India and the surrounding areas. Each year we help purchase Christmas boxes for children in these impoverished regions. The boxes themselves are used by the children to store personal items. The supplies include a blanket, personal hygiene supplies and much more.
