Empty Bowls Painting Project 2019
“Christmas Memories” is the theme of the next general UMW meeting on Thursday, December 10 at 1 pm. Everyone is encouraged to share a Christmas ornament or decoration that has special meaning in her/his life. Mark your calendar to attend the UMW meeting from home online through Zoom. More details with a Zoom link, ID and password will be sent out by email in early December. All you need for Zoom is a phone or computer with internet service. You do not need to have a camera, but a computer/phone with a camera and audio is probably better so you can see everyone. If you have never done a Zoom call, it would be good to connect 5-10 minutes early that day to work out technical issues. If you have Zoom technical questions, please contact Sharon Hoelscher Day at firstname.lastname@example.org.
UMW Reading Program
Every year our local UMW purchases books about leadership, mission, social action and spiritual growth for a special reading program. You don’t have to be a UMW member to check out a book from 2020 or earlier years. Books for 2020 include:
Education for Mission - When Others Shuddered
Leadership for Development - Which Way Lord
Nurturing for Community- Heartbeat of a Mother and Glory Happening
Social Action- Holding Up Your Corner, What Comes with the Dust and Midnight Teacher
Spiritual Growth- God Unbound, Writings of John Wesley, Easter Stories and If I Should Die Before I Live
Raising World Changers in a Changing World, By Kristen Welch is one of the Spiritual Growth books. This book is one family’s story about how their family discovered the beauty of sacrifice and the joy of giving. When Kristen and her husband first had children, they didn’t plan to raise world changers. But the moment they started teaching them to put others first, they discovered that small acts of kindness and compassion do change the world! Their family started Mercy House in 2010 to engage and educate women in Kenya, Africa. Kristen offers parents two things that are lacking in our world today: hope and direction.
UMW Board Meetings
The UMW Board Members meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30am at the church.
All are welcome!
