Persistent Women...Sometimes disparaged - Sometimes lauded...In the 150-year history of Methodist women, persistence against injustice in all forms has been high on the agenda of women supporting other women and children. The Carson Valley United Methodist Women continue their year’s theme of the “Sisterhood of Grace” by looking at the Charter for Racial Justice as well as the UMC’s Social Principles at their next general membership meeting Thursday, February 14. The potluck luncheon will be in the Education Room of the church and starts at 11:30 a.m. with the program starting around 12:15 p.m. Have you heard of Hester Williams? Who was Lily Hammond? As part of Black History Month we remember that the Methodist Church has not always been welcoming to everyone. We will discuss the past and connect it to the present by “Building a Tradition of Persistent Women.” What women in our congregation, community or world represent justice to you? A short video, “African American Methodist Heritage Center,” will conclude the program. Come spend part of your Valentine’s Day with us. You will have a “sweet” time! No RSVP is needed. Just bring a dish to share. No time to cook? Come anyway! If you want to visit, come early. For information, contact CVUMW President Ann Robar.
