UMW taking a break over the summer The Carson Valley United Methodist Women will not hold a formal meeting in June, July or August.  The regular second-Thursday of the month meetings of UMW will  resume in the education room at the church Thursday, Sept. 14, at  11:30 a.m. There is a potluck luncheon after which the program will  start around 12:15.  For more information contact president Maxane Hylton at 782-5648 or  Vice President Ann Santos at (623) 340-6914.

Mission U coming to our church in July  The Carson Valley United Methodist Church will be the site for the California/Nevada  Conference United Methodist Women Mission U July 28-30.  The Mission U study weekends are scheduled three times a year--normally in California. District President Debbie Cole and Treasurer Martha Hoefner worked hard to bring this learning  opportunity to the Nevada side of the Sierras.   Four study areas will be provided to attendees. The first, Spiritual Growth--A Covenantal  Community, will by taught by the Rev. Cynthia Stateman. The Rev. Sharon Delgado will lead the  social issue study: Climate Justice--Call to Hope and Action.  One geographical study--the Missionary Conferences of the UMC will be led by Carol  Partridge. The other geographic study aimed at youth--the Missionary Conferences: “Legacy:  Blooming in the Holy Spirit” for such a time as this! will by led by the Rev. Beth Cademartori.
Anyone can participate in the UMW studies. The nice thing about it being local is that the cost  is only for the conference--no housing costs involved. The $75 fee needs to be in by July 10.  After that another $25 will be added. Please see the UMW bulletin board in the fellowship hall  for registration forms.  There is some scholarship money available from the local unit of UMW. Please contact  Maxane Hylton for information about scholarships.

"Heavenly Holiday Faire" craft workshops are the first and third Mondays of the month through the summer.
Come to the Education Room between 10 am and Noon and help assemble some great projects!  You also can donate supplies. Needed are spice bottles, clear wine bottles, tennis balls, and buttons.  Curious about what these will be used for? Join us and find out!  Contact Barbara Gustafson, Nancy Raymond, Sylvia Terzich, or Deborah Ham Hemphill.
